About this place
Step up to the 2th floor of a Sendagi building, and Art Cafe POLYPUS greets you with a calm space framed by artwork. When taking a break from strolling the neighbourhood, a comforting milk tea crowned with finely textured milk foam or a matcha latte—ordered unsweetened if you prefer—makes an easy choice. The drink selection also ranges from a rich whole-banana smoothie to fragrant rose tea, offering plenty of options to match your mood.
Sweets pair naturally with tea here, led by rich chocolate terrine and chocolate cake. If you are looking for something more substantial, the kitchen turns out reassuring savoury dishes: thick-cut toast loaded with bacon, aubergine, and courgette under melted cheese, a hearty chicken curry bowl, and classic Japanese-style ketchup Neapolitan pasta.
Part of the charm is being able to take your time, whether browsing the exhibition displays and illustration goods for sale or gathering around one of the cafe's board game tables. With cocktails and wine also on hand, it works just as well for an afternoon coffee stop as it does for unwinding in the evening while exploring the area.
